Sephora’s TikTok Shop Pilot Puts Live Video at the Center of Beauty Launches
The Sephora Drop Shop will combine creator content, monthly exclusives and live purchasing in a U.S. test beginning September 19.
Sephora will pilot the Sephora Drop Shop on TikTok Shop beginning September 19, using creator videos, monthly exclusives and TikTok LIVE events to connect beauty discovery directly with purchasing.

Sephora will begin piloting the Sephora Drop Shop on TikTok Shop in the United States on September 19, creating a recurring, video-led format for launching and selling beauty products. The initiative moves Sephora beyond using TikTok principally for discovery and content by adding exclusive merchandise, creator-driven promotion and purchasing within TikTok Shop. (retaildive.com)
The Sephora Drop Shop will feature monthly releases selected from Sephora’s partner brands. Before each reveal, Sephora and the featured brand will publish teasers, interactive experiences and creator-led videos that encourage viewers to guess which brand is participating. The campaign will culminate in an official TikTok LIVE featuring a celebrity host, brand founders and creators. Participants will unveil the products, answer audience questions, demonstrate or discuss the merchandise and direct viewers to items available for purchase during the broadcast. (businesswire.com)
Products in each drop will initially be exclusive to Sephora’s TikTok Shop. Select merchandise may subsequently become available through Sephora.com, selected Sephora stores or other retail partners. During the TikTok-exclusive window, customers will be able to preview the featured products on Sephora’s website before their wider release. (retaildive.com)
Artemis Patrick, president and CEO of Sephora North America, described the pilot as a progression of Sephora’s beauty-discovery strategy and a way to reach TikTok’s highly engaged beauty audience. Anca Marola, Sephora’s global chief digital officer, said the company is taking a “test-and-learn” approach intended to generate insights for digital innovation and a possible future rollout across Sephora’s global network. Bianca Sing, global head of strategic brand partnerships at TikTok Shop, said the collaboration combines Sephora’s beauty curation with TikTok Shop’s mix of creators, entertainment, community and commerce. For the video-commerce business, the stakes extend beyond another retail distribution channel. ConsumerEXP analysis: Sephora is testing whether a scheduled programming cycle—advance clips, personality-led storytelling, a live reveal and immediate checkout—can turn audience attention into measurable product sales while also supporting later sales through Sephora’s other channels. The pilot may give Sephora and participating brands evidence about viewer engagement, launch exclusivity and conversion, although neither Sephora nor TikTok Shop disclosed sales targets, participating brands or measurement benchmarks for the program.
